In the translation industry, small is beautiful.
After graduating from the Polish Language and Literature Department at the University of Warsaw during the tumultuous 1980s, I came to the U.S., and received an MA in Polish Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago. My first translations were serialized books and articles published in Polish-American magazines in Chicago. I soon realized how much I liked the work, and quickly expanded to translating educational credentials documents, and then into technical, legal, and medical fields.
I have always been a science and technology buff, and even without formal technical education, I feel quite competent translating technical manuals, from food industry machines to sophisticated medical lab equipment. I have developed a network of highly-specialized consultants in Poland who assist with even the most difficult technical jargon.
In addition to written translation, I have served for years as a conference interpreter, primarily in corporate training, multilevel marketing, and international trade. I love the challenge of simultaneous interpreting.
My passions include backcountry skiing, kiteboarding, adventure travel, climbing, and gourmet cooking.
I graduated from the elite Institute of Applied Linguistics at the University of Warsaw with a Master’s degree in translation and interpreting in 1995, and have translated professionally ever since. First, I served as an in-house translator and interpreter in Poland, and in the U.S. In 2002, along with Tomasz Poplawski, I founded Polish Connection.
Medical, pharmaceutical, and dental translations are my favorites. We have established an extensive network of medical professionals who help us as consultants on complex terminology. Having worked for an attorney for many years, I also feel competent translating even the most complex legal documents.
I have become an editor of choice for dozens of the most demanding clients and received many compliments on my thoroughness, fairness, and language skills. I enjoy voice-over, and have voice-coached for Rosetta Stone’s new edition of Polish language course.
My free time is divided between working and traveling to many beautiful places throughout the world. I also love skiing and climbing, and admire early vocal and instrumental music, especially when performed by Cecilia Bartoli and Il Giardino Armonico.
